Delete your account
Delete your account in the app
- Open VirtuBank and sign in.
- Tap More, then Your account.
- At the bottom of the page, tap Delete my account.
- Read what will be deleted: the organizations you founded (with how many people are in each) and any balances you hold in other organizations.
- Type DELETE and tap Continue.
- Confirm it is you: enter the six-digit code we email you, or confirm with Apple or Google if that is how you sign in.
You are signed out and the account is gone. Signing in again with the same address later creates a brand new, empty account.
Leave one organization instead
If you only want to stop being part of one family, class or club, you do not need to delete your whole account.
- Switch to your profile in that organization from the Home screen.
- Tap More, then Leave this organization.
- Check the balance you will give up, then tap Continue.
- Confirm it is you with the emailed code, or with Apple or Google.
Whatever balance you held there goes back to the organization. You can join again later with its code, as a new member.
Delete an organization you founded
Only the person who created an organization can delete it. Deleting it removes it for everybody in it: every profile, every balance and its whole history.
- Switch to your staff profile in that organization.
- Tap More, then Delete this organization.
- Type the organization's name exactly, and tap Continue.
- Confirm it is you with the emailed code, or with Apple or Google.
An organization whose currency another organization is using cannot be deleted until that other organization stops using it; the app says so if this applies.
What is deleted, and what is kept
Deleted when you delete your account:
- your email addresses, name and account settings;
- your Apple and Google sign-in links, sessions and devices;
- your notifications and any codes we emailed you;
- every organization you founded, with everything in it;
- your profile in every other organization, and the balances in it, which go back to that organization.
Kept, without anything that identifies you:
- In organizations you belonged to but did not found, the history of payments and transfers stays, because it is part of other people's history too. Those entries show “Former member” instead of your name.
- Problem reports you sent us are kept so we can fix what they describe, with your name and email address removed.
Backups age out within 30 days, after which nothing of the deleted account remains in them. See the Privacy Notice for how long everything else is kept.
If you cannot sign in
Email support@virtubank.ca from the address your account uses and ask us to delete it. Writing from that address is how we know the request is yours. We will delete the account as described above and confirm by email within 30 days.
